Determining Surface Condition

MultiSkate is a 100% acrylic emulsion, non-flammable system consisting of one or two coats (as required) of MultiCover Neutral Acrylic Resurfacer with Sand to reduce surface porosity, allowing for applications of an even, full depth color of two coats of MultiSkate Color. It is recommended to tint the MultiCover neutral base coat with some of the finished color while adding water and batching in a drum. MultiCover and MultiSkate are packaged in 5-gallon pails for ease of on-site handling. MultiCover Acrylic Resurfacer base coating with Sand - 73 lb. MultiSkate – 47 lb.

Uses
The MultiSkate Color system can be applied to any properly prepared asphalt or concrete pavement where In-Line Hockey play is desired.

Colors: Ice Blue and Dove Grey.

Coverages:
MultiCover Neutral Acrylic Resurfacer with Sand: 450 to 550 sq.ft per pail for one coat.
MultiSkate Color: 475 to 575 sq.ft. per pail for one coat.

Surface Preparation
New asphalt must cure for 14 days prior to application of coatings. Repair of pavement surface defects, cracks, depressions and/or base coat (if necessary) must be completed prior to coating applications. Pavement surface must be cleaned entirely of dust, dirt, mildew (if any) debris and all loose materials including vegetation. All repairs must be flush and smooth to adjoining surfaces. Unless the surface is new, it is strongly recommended to thoroughly power wash the entire surface.

Cracks:
Fill all cracks with "ElasticCrack" (to 1/2" wide) or "ElasticCrack-Fortified" (to 1" wide).

Mixing and Application Procedures

  1. For mixing and applying the base coat(s) MultiCover Neutral Acrylic Resurfacer with Sand (see Applying a Base Coat)
  2. MultiSkate Color is ready to use. Do not dilute. Apply two coats of MultiSkate Color over a properly prepared asphalt or concrete surface. Guideline application technique and instructions for MultiSkate Color can be obtained by reviewing installation instructions for MultiMate Ready-Mix Color with Sand & Water, one color option.

Cautions:

  • Read the container label before using. Follow label instructions.
  • When applying, air temperature must be a minimum of 50 degrees F. (10C) and rising. Do not apply if surface temperature exceeds 135 degrees F. (57C)
  • Do not apply when rain is imminent or forecast
  • When applying indoors, use with adequate ventilation during application and drying
  • Close containers when not in use
  • Do not store in direct sunlight or where temperature may exceed 100 degrees F.
  • KEEP FROM FREEZING

Important:

  1. When applying surface coatings during periods of very hot weather, apply coatings at the coolest part of the day, usually in the early morning. Do not apply if surface temperature is 135 degrees F. (57C) or above. When you encounter hot weather which the surface temperature exceeds 135 F. (57C), it is best to apply one coat in the early morning before the temperature rises and then wait until the next morning to apply the next coat.

    Drying Time
Allow each coat to dry thoroughly before applying successive coats. After applying lines, allow 48 hours prior to skating on surface.

    Line Markings
Available Colors: Red, White and Blue. All line markings shall be laid out in accordance with The National In-Line Hockey Association Rink Diagrams. For line layout guidelines see Roller Hockey Line Layout Diagram
